Do you naturally have a bold personality? Or just certain topics you are willing to be bold in your speech?
Stephen, a prominent figure in the early Christian church, is known for his holy boldness, a quality that exemplifies courage and conviction in the face of adversity. Stephen was one of the first deacons in the early Church. Stephen's life and testimony are recorded in the Book of Acts, where his bold faith and fearless proclamation of the Gospel serve as a powerful example for believers.
Stephen's strong words for JESUS, led to fierce opposition. The Bible describes him as a man "full of God's grace and power," "full of the Holy Spirit," and "full of faith". In a long speech from Stephen, he made it clear to the people, that God does not reside in one holy temple/building. Stephen's words caught the attention of many, and he performed miracles in their sight.
Various men rose up to dispute with Stephen, but “they could not hold their own against the wisdom and the spirit with which he was speaking.” In a vision, Stephen saw God’s glory, and he saw Jesus standing at God's right hand!
The leaders and judges who opposed Stephen, decided that Stephen should be stoned to death. Stephen thus became the first martyr on record among Christ’s followers.
Christian witnessing often means facing opposition. There is no doubt that people God has already placed in your life—family, friends, neighbors, coworkers— may not know Christ. Be careful to maintain a godly testimony and to show the love of Christ. And then pray and look for opportunities to share the gospel. Jesus in "daily living" makes the "joy" in all of us!
